GIGI GALLI TORNA A RALLYLEGEND, CON ALEX GELSOMINO, NEL SEGNO DI KEN BLOCK
Il campione livignasco torna, dopo quattro anni, nell’evento in programma dal 2 al 5 ottobre. Lo farà nel segno dell’amico e fuoriclasse Ken Block, scomparso prematuramente. Al suo fianco Alex Gelsomino, navigatore del pilota americano in più di 130 rally. Spettacolo ed emozioni intense: solo a Rallylegend.
Repubblica di San Marino - È da sempre uno dei grandi beniamini del pubblico di Rallylegend. Gigi Galli, pilota velocissimo e dalla guida molto spettacolare, è uno dei talenti italiani messisi in luce nel Mondiale Rally nei primi anni 2000, pilota ufficiale M-Sport, 66 gare iridate, 2 podi, 23 speciali vinte. Ma soprattutto ha lasciato ricordi indelebili e schiere di tifosi che non lo hanno mai dimenticato. Conquistandone di nuovi quando, come in Rallylegend 2021 con la Kia Rio da rallycross da 600 cavalli, dotata di gomme da neve chiodate, ha fatto impazzire gli spettatori con uno show fantastico.
Se poi, come accadrà quest’anno nella Repubblica di San Marino dal 2 al 5 ottobre, a Gigi Galli si associa il ricordo di un grande amico e campione come Ken Block, innamorato di Rallylegend e prematuramente scomparso nel gennaio 2023, l’emozione diventa forte. Anche perché dagli Stati Uniti volerà a San Marino Alex Gelsomino, navigatore di Ken Block in oltre 130 rally, per essere al fianco di Gigi Galli, a leggere le note. Un tributo da Rallylegend ad un amico indimenticabile come Ken Block.
Per tutta la durata di Rallylegend, a dare spettacolo tra le adrenaliniche Legend Stars, a bordo di una Citroen C3 WRC Plus by Gino Motorsport, mentre al giovedì sera, nella Sprint Legend Race, l’equipaggio Gigi Galli- Alex Gelsomino distribuirà emozioni intense a bordo della Ford Fiesta RS WRC, con cui Block-Gelsomino avevano fatto vedere ottime cose nel Mondiale Rally 2011.
Gigi Galli non sta già nella pelle: “E’ già una grande emozione solo pensare a questa splendida iniziativa degli Organizzatori di Rallylegend. Essere in macchina con Alex Gelsomino per ricordare Ken Block e farlo con la sua Ford Fiesta WRC e poi con la Citroen C3 WRC Plus, vettura stupenda che non vedo l’ora di guidare, è davvero una occasione bellissima. L’amicizia con Ken Block e il grande show che abbiamo fatto sei anni fa a Rallylegend nelle “rotonde” restano per me indimenticabili”.
Anche Alex Gelsomino non nasconde la sua emozione: “È una opportunità fantastica quella di tornare a Rallylegend, un evento che il mio pilota e amico Ken Block amava profondamente e riteneva unico al mondo. Sarà davvero speciale tornare in mezzo a tanti appassionati che amano i rally e ancor più farlo a fianco di un pilota del calibro di Gigi Galli, un vero eroe dei rally italiani e mondiali, con quel suo stile estremo di guida, a base di grandi “traversi”, che aveva influenzato e ispirato anche Ken Block. A bordo poi di quella Ford Fiesta WRC con cui abbiamo corso Ken ed io nel 2011. Per questo ringrazio molto gli organizzatori di Rallylegend, e in particolare Vito Piarulli, insieme al proprietario della macchina Alessandro Gino”.

GIGI GALLI RETURNS TO RALLYLEGEND, WITH ALEX GELSOMINO, IN THE NAME OF KEN BLOCK
The Italian champion is set to return, after four years, to the event taking place on 2-5 October. He’ll do so in the name of friend and legend Ken Block, who died far too soon. By his side, Alex Gelsomino, who was the co-driver of the American driver in more than 130 rallies. High-octane entertainment, only at Rallylegend.
Republic of San Marino - A Rallylegend fan favourite and a spectacular driver, Gigi Galli is one of the Italian names who came to the fore in World Rally in the early 2000s. An M-Sport factory driver, he competed in 66 world championship races, scoring two podiums and winning 23 special stages. He created indelible memories and amassed so many fans who never forgot him. Fans who were excited to see him return, at Rallylegend 2021, where he put on a brilliant show for the crowd with the 600 hp rallycross Kia Rio complete with studded snow tyres.
And the emotions are only heightened if, as is the case at this year’s event, Gigi Galli pays tribute to the memory of a great friend and champion like Ken Block, a long-time Rallylegend fan who passed too soon, in January 2023. Especially because American Alex Gelsomino, navigator to Ken Block in more than 130 rallies, will be alongside Gigi Galli in San Marino, on the notes. A Rallylegend tribute to Ken Block, an unforgettable friend.
The duo will enliven Rallylegend by lining up among the Legend Stars, aboard a Citroen C3 WRC Plus by Gino Motorsport, while in Thursday evening’s Sprint Legend Race, the Gigi Galli-Alex Gelsomino pairing will climb aboard the very Ford Fiesta RS WRC with which Block-Gelsomino did such great things in the 2011 World Rally Championship.
Gigi Galli is already looking forward to it: “I’m excited just thinking about this wonderful initiative arranged by the Rallylegend organisers. Being in the car with Alex Gelsomino as we remember Ken Block and doing at the wheel of his own Ford Fiesta WRC and with the Citroen C3 WRC Plus, a fantastic vehicle that I can’t wait to drive, will make for a truly wonderful occasion. My friendship with Ken Block and the amazing show we put on six years ago around the Rallylegend “roundabouts” will never be forgotten”.
Alex Gelsomino doesn’t hide his emotion: “Returning to Rallylegend is a fantastic opportunity. My driver and friend Ken Block just loved this event and saw it as something truly unique. It will be very special to be back among so many rallying fans, and to be alongside a driver of the calibre of Gigi Galli, a true hero of national and international rallying and the master of drift, his extreme driving style even influencing and inspiring Ken himself. And we’ll be driving the Ford Fiesta WRC that Ken and I used in 2011. I want to thank the organisers of Rallylegend, and particularly Vito Piarulli, along with the car’s owner, Alessandro Gino”.
